Local Commercial
The purpose of the C-1 (local commercial) district is to provide for the establishment or continuance of small business areas that will serve the surrounding residential neighborhoods with convenience goods and services. Since traffic and parking congestion should be held to a minimum near residential areas to protect property values and preserve amenities of residential areas, all development in the C-1 district shall take place in a limited business setting. A desirable size for such an area is several offices or stores and would include such activities necessary for the day-to-day operation of a typical household or uses that do not detract from the character of the surrounding community. All retail uses in the C-1 district are intended to be compatible with adjoining office or residential uses. Certain residential uses are allowed in the C-1 district, provided that minimum standards are met.
