Historic District General Business District

The purpose of the historic district specific use zoning overlay district is to establish regulations which will safeguard the historic, archaeological, architectural and cultural resources of the city, promoting preservation, restoration, and rehabilitation of those resources or ensuring the compatibility of new construction within designated historic districts. The requirements of this district are in addition to the requirements of the underlying zoning district. The purpose of the B-3 District (Community Business District) is to provide for those businesses and services serving a trade area larger than a neighborhood, but smaller than the entire city and located primarily along minor or principal arterial streets, as classified in the Transportation Plan of the City of Laredo. It is intended for this zoning classification to exist primarily abutting minor or principal arterial streets while preserving established residential neighborhoods along such streets.
