The R-2 district is intended to allow for higher density residential development that is compatible with the R-1 (single family) zone. Numerical restrictions have been kept to a minimum so as to allow as much flexibility as possible in housing design and still ensure adequate protection to adjacent R-1 zoned districts. This is a transitional zone and should be used to separate and protect the R-1 districts from more intense land uses and zones, and from heavily traveled transportation routes.
