The purpose and intent of the general commercial district is to provide for the location of commercial areas developed along certain major thoroughfares to provide use incentives and development standards and to provide for a range of trade, service, entertainment, and recreation land uses which occur adjacent to major traffic arterials and residential uses. It is also the purpose of this district to provide opportunities for mixed use development within the designated mixed use overlay boundary, as designated by the comprehensive plan
