Dan River District
The intent of the Dan River District is to, protect property investment and the public health welfare and safety in flood hazard areas adjacent to the Dan River, provide for compatible nonresidential uses that may be established within the designated Dan River Floodway Zone, support and supplement regulations adopted for the purposes of compliance with FEMA and Federal Flood Insurance Program for the benefit of the citizens of the town, facilitate the gradual transition of developed areas in the town that lie within the floodway to appropriate land uses that protect environmental quality and ensure the safety of property and the public in floodprone areas.
